Habitat:
50-foot, north-facing, basalt cliffs below lower-most waterfall on river. Forms clumps in moss mats, often feather mosses (ptilium sp.), on ledges of the mid portion of the cliff. Plants shaded by aspect of cliff as well as Thuja occidentalis, Alnus viridis ssp. crispa, Acer spicatum, and Betula papyrifera on upper part of cliff. Cliff face gets much use by recreational climbers and other adventure seekers.
