Habitat: in small poor fen ("cranberry bog") in slight, three acre depression atop wooded, 60 foot hill. Full sun to partial shade of Betula papyrifera, B. glandulifera, and Acer rubrum. Spongy, continuous Sphagnum substrte. Associates include Drosera rotundifolia, Sagittaria latifolia, Triadenum fraseri, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Dryopteris cristata, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Spiraea tomentosa, Dulichium arundinaceum, Carex lacustris, C. utriculata, C. lasiocarpa, C. chordorrhiza.
