Fire-distrubed area in mixed hardwood-softweed forest (old growth pine forest). Open canopy but understory densely populated-Acer saplings, Corylus, Rubus, Viburnum. Associates: Aster macrophyllus, Osmorhiza claytonia, Streptopus roseus, and Silene latifolia.
