Habitat: dry-mesic prairie on slopes in shallowly-undulating topography on terrace ... In phase of prairie dominated mostly by Andropogon gerardii and Sorghastrum nutans. Sols consist of dark brown, sandy loam over sand. Limestone bedrock occurs several feet below ground surface. Associated with Bouteloua curtipendula, Schizachyrium scoparium, Psoralea argoophylla, Linum sulcatum, Coreopsis palmata.
