Habitat: In wet forest on gentle north-facing slope ... Patchy canopy, forest selectively logged ~10 years ago. Remaining canopy dominated by Fraxinus nigra with scattered Quercus macrocarpa. Understory dominated by Rhamnus cathartica. Moist organic soil fed by subtle groundwater seepage ... Associated species include Carex sprengelii, C. granularis, C. stipata, Phalaris arundinacea, Equisetum arvense, Rubus pubescens, Galium asprellum, Thalictrum dasycarpus, Impatiens capensis, Arisaema triphyllum, Circaea alpina, Ribes hirtellum.
