Habitat: on floating sedge mat (rich fen) on boggy margin of shallow marly lake. Narrow zone between open water and tamarack swamp. In carpet of Sphagnum moss. In full sun to partial shade of Larix laricina. Associates include Carex lasiocarpa, C. prairea, C. chordorrhiza, C. paupercula, C. interior, Sarracenia purpurea, Drosera rotundifolia, Thelypteris palustris, Potentilla palustris, Galium labradoricum, Scirpus hudsonianus, Eriophorum gracile, Salix pedicellaris, S. candida.
