Habitat: Locally rugged terrain ... In small, dry prairie remnant. Level area near wooded thicket dominated by Prunus pensylvanica. Moderately coarse, tan sandy substrate. Full sun to slight shade from Rhus glabra and young Quercus macrcarpa. Additional associates include Poa pratensis, Sorghastrum nutans, Lithospermum canescens, Cerastium arvense, Monarda fistulosa, Geum triflorum, Potentilla arguta.
