Continuous Sphagnum spp., moss carpets. Forming loose clumps. Associated species include Carex interior, C. trisperma, C. disperma, C. chordorrhiza, C. lasiocarpa, Thelypteris palustris, Scheuchzeria palustris, Sarracenia purpurea, Smilacina trifolia, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Ledum groenlandicum, Andromeda glaucophylla, Chamaedaphne calyclata, Salix pyrifolia, Alnus incana.
