Habitat: Plants occur in a deciduous forest with Acer saccharum and Populus tremuloides. Associated with Uvularia grandiflora, Smilacina stellata, Caulophyllum thalictroides, Botrychium virginianum, Sambucus pubens. Observed growing along the edge of the stand.
