Habitat: Brushy woodland edge. Associated with Rhamnus cathartica, Ulmus americana, Populus deltoides.
Description: A single tree; the largest of 9 stems measured 8 m tall and 18 cm dbh. Coumpund thorns absent; simple thorns moderately abundant, to 6 cm long. The fruits nearly all red or pink, dull; 9-12 mm long, 10-14 mm wide. Nutlets consistently 3-4.
