Habitat: on low ice-thrust ridge which forms the southern shore of [lake]. Under canopy of Betula papyrifera, Acer rubrum, and Pinus banksiana. Moist sandy soil with thick humus layer. Ecotonal area. Associated species include Osmunda claytoniana, O. cinnamomea, Trientalis borealis, Uvularia sessilifolia, Carex lacustris, C. stricta, Vaccinium angustifolium, V. myrtilloides, and Quercus ellipsoidalis seedlings.
