Habitat: Rolling terrain ... along margin of inter-drumlin wetland ... Narrow zone of mature Fraxinus nigra in semi-terrestrial ecotone between tamarack swamp and adjacent mesic hardwood forest on upland. Canopy dominated locally by Fraxinus nigra, with occasional Tilia americana. Open understory on scattered F. nigra and Ulmus americana. Moist to wet, shallow organic substrate. Associated species include Carex radiata, C. pedunculata, Elymus hystrix, Festuca subverticillata, Parthenocissus inserta, Athyrium angustum, Onoclea sensibilis, Aralia racemosa, Geranium maculatum, Lilium michiganense, Cicuta maculata ... in partial to full shade.
