Habitat: on rather steep, north-facing, 220ft, slope; Mature maple-basswood forest dominated by Acer saccharum, Tilia americana & Quercus rubra. Associates include Asarum canadense, Dicentra cucullaria, Actaea rubra, Mitella diphylla, Hepatica acutiloba, Anemone quinquefolia, Carex pedunculata. On upper-slope in rocky, clay-loam.
