Habitat: in large tamarack swamp dominated by rather dense stand of Larix laricina. On drier tree-base hummocks. In full shade. Associates include Ribes triste, R. hirtellum, Alnus incana, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Carex leptalea, C. disperma, Rubus pubescens, Thelypteris palustris.
