Habitat: Gently-rolling terrain ... On ~1/2 acre bedrock outcrop (metabasalt and mafic breccia) rising ~15 feet above the surrounding landscape. Growing along crevices and in thin soil over bedrock. Full sun to partial shade of open-grown Celtis occidentalis. Associated species include Opuntia fragilis, Talinum parviflorum, Portulaca oleracea, Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Cerastium arvense, Androsace occidentalis, Hedeoma hispida, Artemisia frigida, Plantago patagonica, Lepidium densiflorum, Muhlenbergia cuspidata, Bouteloua hirsuta, Poa compressa.
