Habitat: in five acre depression surrounded by the steep, 80ft. hills of a gravelly esker. Hardwood swamp. Somewhat sparse canopy of Fraxinus pennsylvanica. Understory dominated by Alnus incana. In partial sun to full shade. Moist to wet organic soil. Associated species include Scirpus cyperinus, Glyceria grandis, Ilex verticillata.
