Habitat: partial shade under sparse canopy dominated by Fraxinus nigra, w/ scattered F. pennsylvanica, and rare Betula allegheniensis [sic] & ulmus americana. Shallow pools. Associates include Aster umbellatus, A. puniceus, Osmunda cinnomomea [sic], Scutellaria lateriflora, Onoclea sensibilis, Athyrium angustum, Glyceria striata, Rhamnus alnifolia.
