Habitat: in maple basswood forest on gradually sloping lower-slope of 280ft, north-facing bluff. Canopy dominated by Acer saccharum & Tilia americana. Associates include Carex woodii, C. albursina, C. laxiculmis, C. hirtifolia, C. radiata, Athyrium thelypteroides, A. angustum, Isopyrum biternatum. Rich, dark, silty-clay.
