Habitat: tamarack swamp especially under denser canopy areas of Larix laricina. On shaded hummocks. Associates include C. leptalea, C. interior, Caltha palustris, Galium labradoricum, Equisetum fluviatile, Platanthera hyperborea, Rubus pubescens, Thelypteris palustris, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Betula glandulifera.
