Habitat: Small depression in strongly-rolling, wooded terrain; continuous Sphagnum and Polytrichum moss carpet on boggy sedge mat (poor fen) surrounded by 70 foot gravelly hills. Full sun. Associates include Dulichium arundinaceum, Carex lasiocarpa, C. chordorrhiza, Thelypteris palustris, Triadenum fraeri, Potentilla palustris, Aster umbellatus, stunted Larix laricina, Spiraea tomentosa, Chamaedaphne calyculata.
