Habitat: 5 acre depression surrounded by the steep, 80ft. hills of a gravely esker. Hardwood swamp. Somewhat sparse canopy of Fraxinus pennsylvanica. Understory dominated by Alnus incana. Partial shade. Moist to wet organic soil. Additional associates include Carex lacustris, C. lupulina, C. brunnescens, Scirpus cyperinus, Glyceria grandis, Onoclea sensibilis, Boehmeria cylindrica, Impatiens capensis.
