Habitat: Strongly-rolling forested moraine ... lower portion of steep, 110-foot, east-facing slope of the ridge ... In mature mesic hardwood forest dominated locally by Acer saccharum, Tilia americana, and Quercus rubra. Dense understory of Acer saccharum, and occasional Ostrya virginiana. Loamy soil. Additional associates include Athyrium angustum, Aralia racemosa, Viola pubescens, Cryptotaenia canadensis, Osmorhiza claytonii, Solidago flexicaulis, Uvularia grandiflora, Phryma leptostachya, Dirca palustris, Oryzopsis asperifolia, O. racemosa, Carex pedunculata.
