Habitat: Strongly-rolling forested moraine ... poor tamarack swamp on eastern side of small bog pond. sparse canopy of short (~stunted) Larix laricina. Often in zone where low shrubs (Betula glandulifera, Alnus incana, Chamaedaphne calyculata) are the dominant cover ... Full sun to partial shade. Quaky saturted peat; and on floating mat at edge of pond. Nearly continuous Sphagnum spp. moss carpets. Additional associates include Carex lasiocarpa, C. echinata, C. chordorrhiza, C. canescens, C. limosa, Eriophorum gracile, Dulichium arundinaceum, Sarracenia purpurea, Potentilla palustris, Spiraea tomentosa, S. alba, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Andromeda glaucophylla.
