Habitat: in small poor fen ("cranberry bog") in slight, three acre depression atop 60 foot wooded hill. Spongy, continuous Sphagnum substrate. Associated species include Betula papyrifera, B. glandulifera, Acer rubrum, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Spiraea tomentosa, Thelypteris palustris, Drosera rotundifolia, Sagittaria latifolia, Dryopteris cristata, Typha latifolia.
