Ostrya virginiana common in understory ... on lower portion of fairly steep, 40-foot, north-facing slope. Gravelly-sand substrate. Associated species include Oryzopsis racemosa, O. asperifolia, Carex pensylvanica, Thalictrum dioicum, Uvularia grandiflora, Aster macrophyllus, Solidago flexicaulis, Symphoricarpos albus, Zanthoxylum americanum.
