Habitat: Rugged terrain...wet area where slight drainage crosses old logging road. Patchy canopy of Populus tremuloides & Picea glauca. Understory of Alnus incana, Abies balsamea, and Thuja occidentalis. Wet soil and in shallow standing water. Associates include Scirpus microcarpus, Eupatorium maculatum, Thalictrum dasycarpum, Galium asprellum, Caltha palustris, Cirsium muticum, Rubus pubescens, Cornus stolonifera.
