Habitat: On small upland island in peatland ... in sparse-canopied areas on outer portions of island. Partial shade of Abies balsamea and Populus tremuloides. Sandy-loam. In moss mats. Associated species include Linnaea borealis, Cornus canadensis, Maianthemum canadense, Aster macrophyllus, Rubus pubescens, Aralia nudicaulis, Petasites frigidus var. palmatus, Vaccinium myrtilloides, V. angustifolium.
