Habitat: in boggy fen with continuous carpet of Sphagnum moss. In depression amongst rolling wooded terrain. Full sun. Associates include Carex lasiocarpa, C. utriculata, C. chordorrhiza, Dulichium arundinaceum, Eleocharis palustris, Eriophorum gracile, Spiraea alba, Thelypteris palustris, Polygonum sagittatum, Triadenum fraseri, Lycopus virginicus, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Betula papyrifera seedlings.
