Habitat: on steep, south-facing slope of 200 foot, south-facing bluff. Silty talus on mid-slope below large dolomite cliffs. Dry woodland with patchy canopy of twisted Quercus macrocarpa & Tilia americana. Dense shrub layer of Ribes missouriense, Ulmus rubra, Acer saccharum, Prunus virginiana. Associates include Solidago glexicaulis, Parthenocissus inserta, Hepatica acutiloba, Asarum canadense, Geranium maculatum, Osmorhiza claytonii, Galium concinnum, Aquilegia canadensis, Polymnia canadensis.
