Habitat: Rugged terrain...on gradual southeast-facing slope on mid-portion of 450-foot slope...Shallow rocky clay. Canopy here dominated by Betula papyrifera, with scattered Populus grandidentata, P. tremuloides, Picea glauca, Acer saccharum, and old-growth Pinus strobus. Associates include Corylus cornuta, Acer spicatum, Diervilla lonicera, Apocynum androsaemifolium, Aster macrophyllus.
