Habitat:
In sphagnum/conifer swamp dominated by Picea mariana and Larix laricina. In saturated peat. More abundant in drier portions of swamp. Associated with Kalmia polifolia, Sarracenia purpurea, Carex chordorrhiza, Menyanthes trifoliata var. minor.
