Habitat: Gently-rolling sandy outwash terrain ... along two-track road (recently plowed with a disc harrow), through large patch of recently clear-cut jack pine woodland (now a young red pine plantation). Occurring where the road cuts through a small, shallow depression which is dry due to extended drought (shallow water present on 5 June 2007). Fine sand. Full sun. Associated species include Eleocharis engelmannii, Agrostis scabra, Cyperus bipartitus, Juncus tenuis, Bidens cernua.
