Habitat: in maple basswood forest on gradually sloping lower-slope of 280ft, north-facing bluff. Canopy dominated by Acer saccharum & tilia americana. Associates include Carex woodii, C. albursina, C. pedunculata, C. radiata, C. laxiculmis, Athyrium thelypteroides, A. angustum, Isopyrum biternatu. Rich, dark, silty-clay.
