Habitat: moist, gravelly soil in small gravel pit along south side of road. In full sun to partial shade of Alnus incana. Associated species include Carex cryptolepis, Juncus sp., Scirpus cyperinus, Euthamia graminifolia, Solidago uliginosa, Aster umbellatus, Anaphalis margaritacea, Equisetum varigaetum, Drosera rotundifolia, Vaccinium oxycoccus, and seedlings of Larix laricina, Thuja occidentalis, Picea mariana, and Alnus incana.
