Habitat: Rather rugged forested terrain ... poor fen in central portion of small (4-acre) basin ... Full sun to partial shade of a solitary Larix laricina. Continuous Sphagnum spp. moss carpet. Saturated peat. Associates include Carex lasiocarpa, C. canescens, C. echinata, C. chordorrhiza, C. lacustris, Juncus bervicaudatus, Triadenum fraseri, Thelypteris palustris, Dryopteris cristata, Menyanthes trifoliata, Iris versicolor, Potentilla palustris, Lycopus uniflorus, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Chamaedaphne calyculata, and stunted Alnus incana.
