Locality: United States, Minnesota, Cook, Superior National Forest. Above the Onion River 3 1/2 miles northeast of Tofte. Atop Leveaux Mountain. T59N R4W S1/2 of SE1/4 Sec.2

Habitat: lower portion of 40- to 100-foot, north to northwest-facing, mesic to dry-mesic, ferrodiorite cliffs; in crevices and moss mats on ledges and less steep portions of cliff face. Also in (upper) forested talus zone on very steep slope below cliff. In shaded settings below Thuja occidentalis, Betula papyrifera, B. cordifolia, Picea glauca, Sorbus decora.
Associated Species: Huperzia x buttersii, Dryopteris fragrans, Trientalis borealis, Gymnocarpium dryopteris, Maianthemum canadense.
Description: Frequent. Forming small, dense clumps
