Habitat: Gently rolling drumlin terrain...Rich conifer swamp ... beneath fairly dense canopy dominated by mature Larix laricina, with frequent Picea mariana in the subcanopy here. On hummocks and other raised areas, especially around the bases of trees. Continuous carpets of Sphagnum spp. and featermosses. Associated species include Linnaea borealis, Smilacina trifolia, Cypripedium reginae, Rubus pubescens, Coptis tirfolia, Moneses uniflora, Pyrola secunda, Malaxis uniflora, Carex gynocrates, C. leptalea, C. vaginata, Lonicera villosa, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Ledum groenlandicum.
