Habitat: Along margins of stagnant backwater channel (slough). Occasional, forming carpets in organic muck in marshy area dominated by Leersia oryzoides. (Water level of the slough low due to extended drought). Also forming dense patch on old decaying log in the slough. Full sun to parital shade of Acer saccharinum on adjacent floodplain. Additional associates include Sparganium eurycarpum, Alisma sp., Cicuta maculata, Bidens connata.
