Habitat: At the edge of a mesic forest (maple-basswood), where it borders an abandoned agricultural field ... Associated with Rhus glabra, Amelanchier intermedia, Zanthoxylum americanum, Rhamnus cathartica.
Description: A small thicket of several large shrubs up to 3 m tall, with stems 2-3 cm in dia. Stamens ca 10, anthers white (becoming reddish-brown in age). No compound thorns. At very end of antheis (nearby C. punctata still in gud). Collected from the same stem as #25949 (fruiting specimen).
