Habitat: small wetland in rolling bedrock terrain ... Shallow, half-acre depression surrounded by paper birch forest along primitive portage trail ... Full sun to partial shade of Acer rubrum, Fraxinus nigra, and Betula papyrifera on wetland margin. Frequent in narrow ecotone near water's edge and extending into outer sedge zone as well as into shallow water. Moist to wet, rocky substrate. Associated species include Carex vesicaria, C. arcta, Alopecurus aequalis, Mentha arvensis, Sium suave, Galium tinctorium.
