Habitat: Rare in crevices of moist basalt cliffs in deep, narrow gorge of the [river] below the upper falls. Fairly dry crevices and ledges on north to east-facing exposures above high water level (15 feet above stream level, on mid portion of cliff). Shaded by Pinus strobus & Thuja occidentalis atop cliffs. Associated with Cryptogramma stelleri, Cystopteris fragilis, Aquilegia canadensis.
