Habitat: in Tamarack Swamp; Canopy locally rather dense stand of older Larix laricina. Mostly in wet areas on and between low hummocks. Associates include Rubus pubescens, Caltha palustris, Betula papyrifera, B. glandulifera, Cornus alternifolia, Ribes triste, Viburnum trilobum, Mitella nuda.
