Rolling terrain ... In remnant patch of grazed mesic hardwood forest on ridge ... Lower portion of gradual, 30-foot, south-facing slope. Canopy interrupted here, mostly mature Acer saccharum, A. negundo, Quercus macrocarpa, and Ulmus americana. Understory of A. saccharum, Cornus alternifolia, Crataegus punctata, and Zanthoxylum americanum. Deep organic loam. Associates include Carex hirtifolia, C. radiata, C. gracillima, C. sprengilii, C. deweyana, Circaea lutetiana, Viola sororia, Leonurus cardiaca, Galium aparine, Ranunculus rhomboideus, Geum canadense.
