Habitat:
rather strongly-rolling forested terrain ... on outer portions of poor fen, in five-acre basin. Saturated peat. Mostly in full sun. Assocated species include Calla palustris, Polygonum sagittatum, Cicuta bulbifera, Triadenum fraseri, Iris versicolor, Glyceria grandis, Carex lacustris, C. stricta, Dulichium arndinaceum.
