Habitat: In large wetland complex ... in willow swamp grading to wet aspen woodland. Partial shade beneath interrupted canopy of Populus balsamifera, and tall, dense understory of Salix spp. Moist, shallow organic layer over fine sand. Climbing (twining) on herbaceous and woody vegetation up to five feet high. Additional associates include Calamagrostis canadensis, Poa palustris, Eupatorium maculatum, Campanula aparinoides, Laportea canadensis, Galium asprellum, Cornus stolonifera.
