Occasional to very locally common on steep, northwest-facing slope of 40-foot high terrace along [river] at [islands]. Narrow strip of mesic deciduous forest dominated by Tilia americana and Ulmus rubra. Understory of Ostrya virginiana. Dark, sandy soil. Associates include Carex pedunculata, C. deweyana, Oryzopsis racemosa, Solidago flexicaulis, Aquilegia canadensis, Asarum canadense, Uvularia sessilifolia, U. grandiflora, Polygonatum pubscens, Phryma leptostachya, Smilacina racemosa, Maianthemum canadense, Cornus racemosa, Ribes cynosbati.
