Habitat:
on the extremely steep lower third of 130ft, north-facing slope. Canopy dominated by Tilia americana, with occasional Betula papyrifera. Moist sandy loam with dense moss cover. Associates include Carex peckii, Equisteum [sic] scirpoides, Maianthemum canadense, Ostrya virginiana.
