Habitat: Mixed hardwood forest along river, dominated by Celtis occidentalis with Acer negundo, Acer saccharinum, and Populus deltoides. Understory (fewer shrubs than forest north of boat ramp) comprised of Zanthoxylum americanum, Ribes americanum, Ribes missouriense, and Rosa blanda, along with Vitis riparia and Menispermum canadense. Herbaceous layer dominated by Laportea canadensis, with scattered Scrophularia lanceolata, Thalictrum dasycarpum,and Poa pratensis, Poa annua, Phalaris arundincea [sic], Bromus inermis (only where open), Plantago major, and Polygonum sp. along trail borders. Smilax tamnoides common and growing well up into tree layer.
