Habitat: atop large granite outcrop rising 30ft. above surrounding woodland and wetland. Full sunlight in bedrock cracks and dry, thin soil near bare rock. Associates include Schizachrium [sic] scoparium, Koeleria macrantha, Andropogon gerardii, Poa pratensis, Woodsia ilvensis, Allium stellatum, Talinum parviflorum, Corydalis sempervirens, Heuchera richardsonii, Hedyotis longifolia, Amorpha canescens.
