Habitat: eastern side of a rich fen fringe of an open water pool within a surrounding white cedar (Thuja occidentalis) swamp. Most common in the transition from rich to conifer swamp forest. Continuous moss carpet dominated by Sphagnum spp.. Associates: Dulichium arundinaceum, Potentilla palustris, Carex limosa, and Scheuchzeria palustris.
